Upon arrival into Marrakech a VIP representative will meet you at the sleeve/jetway of the plane. He will facilitate passport control procedures, luggage identification and escort you through customs to your awaiting driver for the transfer to the coastal town of Essaouira. This historically and culturally rich town has been inhabited as early as the 7th century BC, and its Skala fortress still stands tall and was used by Orson Wells in filming Othello in 1949. Discover the whitewashed Medina with a stroll in the old city. Note the typical blue doors while observing the wood workshops and marvel at what the artists can do. Your guide & driver is at your disposal today to explore and enjoy Essaouira. As your hotel is just outside the gates of the city, taking a stroll through the Medina is always a good idea to immerse in the town. You will continue outside of town for some of the interesting sights nearby, including the Val d’Argan winery, Fromagerie Meskala (cheese maker using traditional approaches), and finally enjoy some fresh fish at a coastal village.

Your private driver will transfer you to the world-famous city of Marrakech, such an intriguing place that its nickname is numerous including Pearl of the South, Jewel of the South and The Red City just to name a few. This afternoon you will be introduced to Marrakech via a horse-drawn carriage ride through some of the famous gardens that dot the city. Today you will discover the mysteries of Marrakech, by visiting the many architectural attraction that are found inside the old walled section of town, the Medina. Your guide will help make sense of the various souks of town, the maze of alleys and bazaars that are full of vibrant action of sellers of all kinds of products. The Dyjemaa El Fna is the main square and is also full of street artists and food vendors plus small restaurants. Look upwards at the Koutoubia minaret, which went on to inspire the similar towers built in Seville, Spain, and Rabat. Built in the 12th century, it is over 200 feet tall and visible throughout the city. The Bahia Palace and its grand courtyard dazzles visitors with its architectural features and demonstrates how the privileged lived in the 19th century.

Today depart from Marrakech in 4-wheeldrive vehicles as you will explore the Agafay Desert and the nearby surroundings to get an appreciation for the rocky hills and beautiful landscapes that surround Marrakech and lead into the Atlas Mountains. You will pass Berber villages and discover the Berber way of life. As part of your day, enjoy lunch at Scarabeo Camp, cruise the Kik Plateau and take in the views and relaxation available on the shores of lake Lalla Takerkoust.

This morning you will move from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains for several days of immersing in the landscape and life in this part of Morocco. You will spend three-nights staying at Kasbah Tamadot, a gorgeous and unique property which owner Sir Richard Branson calls a “magical place perfect for rest and relaxation”.

Today is all about enjoying an authentically Berber experience of the Atlas Mountains. You will start with a 1-hour Mule Trek among the eucalyptus and olive groves to a local Berber village. You will be greeted to a local Berber home for tea, followed by a Berber cooking lesson and bread making. This day will have you feeling connected to the local area and people. Complete your day by enjoying a spa treatment at the Asounfou Spa, which can even include the Hammam experience.

Venture on the Oakaimeden route which will take you high above the Tamadant Valley with impressive scenery. Passing ancient and isolated mountain villages, you will enjoy views of the High Atlas including Mt Toubkal which is North Africa’s highest peak. After lunch wind down the Ourika Valley which has landscapes of fruit trees and wooden bridges spanning the river.

Today you will be head back to Marrakech for your last day in Morocco. Enjoy a spa treatment at the Royal Mansour, or perhaps a walk amongst the nearby gardens or Medina of town.
