The Amaze Travel SIGNATURE ALASKA EXPLORATION is a 12 day trip of amazing nature, culture and cuisine!  Included are luxury accommodations; daily tours, meals and beverages onboard; round-trip air and transfers. With 20-hour days, glaciers larger than some states, national parks larger than some nations, the highest US peak, the largest brown bears and longest humpback whales, Alaska is nothing short of epic. The 49th state is extreme in scale and in varied beauty. From massive green rain forests to the purest blue crevasse-patterned glaciers to rainbow colored sunsets all senses are awakened and the earth feels as if its in original form – or perhaps not earth at all but some other magical planet’s surface. We rode bikes along the coast, sailed into icy bays, spotted otters, whales, bald eagles, moose, and bears, hiked glaciers and mountains, and took in aerial views from our private float plane to name a few. Don’t get us wrong, we also gave our inner bravehearts respite with local craft brews, freshly caught salmon and strolls through the quaint villages along the coast. There is truly something for everyone in this outdoor playground.

Day 3: Cruising the Hubbard Glacier

This tidewater glacier lies off the coast of Yakutat and at more than six miles wide where it meets the ocean, Hubbard is certainly a giant. Having had two major surges in recent years and regularly calving it is a wonderous site from the warmth and luxury of the observation lounge.

Day 4: Sitka

Founded by Russian fur traders as New Archangel in 1799, Sitka was the historic center of Russia’s Alaskan empire. The Russian flag was replaced by the Stars and Stripes when the United States purchased the Alaska territory in 1867. Today, picturesque Sitka, is known for its fishing industry, an annual summer classical music festival and, of course, its many historic visitor attractions.

Day 5: Cruising Tracy Arm

This stupendous fjord is part of the 30 mile long Tracy Arm – Fords Terror Wilderness region — located about 60 miles southeast of Juneau. Tracy Arm charms the traveler with snow-capped peaks, shear rock palisades, waterfalls, rainbows and massive tidewater glaciers. Drift among the icebergs for close-up view of Sawyer Glaciers, gleaming subtle shades of blue under a glorious expansive sky. Be sure to watch for seals and whales frolicking among the clear, cerulean waters.

Day 6: Juneau

Downtown Juneau sits snugly between Mount Juneau, Mount Roberts and Gastineau Channel, and is a maze of narrow streets running past a mix of new structures, old storefronts and quaint houses featuring early 19th century architecture left over from the town’s early gold mining days.

Day 7: Skagway

A seven-block corridor along Broadway features historic false-front shops and restaurants, wooden sidewalks, locals in period costumes and restored buildings. Beginning in 1897, Skagway and the nearby ghost town of Dyea was the starting place for more than 40,000 gold-rush stampeders who headed to the Yukon primarily by way of the Chilkoot Trail.

Recommendation:  Scenic Rail and Yukon Suspension Bridge

Day 8: Ketchikan

Ketchikan, on the southwest side of Revillagigedo Island, grew up around salmon canneries and sawmills. At one time Ketchikan was proclaimed the “Salmon Capital of the World.” An outstanding collection of totem poles make a visit to Ketchikan essential for anyone interested in Native art. Travelers flock to Ketchikan for their first look at the North Country, and are rarely disappointed.
